Gods Bound by Rules #2

Hello!! I meant to update last week but I ended up.. not having any drive to do anything due to the Situation so here we are now. I was able to use my new mic for this and also a new recording angle?? I tried using my front-facing camera this time but it’s so hard to get the shot lined up perfectly while looking up at the camera.. my neck.. Anyway I’ve made some progress on the sixteenth note passage.

Mostly worked on voicing as mentioned in the previous post for GBBR, as well as clean sixteenth note syncopation, especially in the LH. All things considered, my LH is keeping up better than I expected so far but I can definitely feel the LH trying to lag for the bigger arpeggios.. I try to envision the straight sixteenths in my head before I play and I think it helps with pushing my LH along.

I’m not letting myself practice the dramatic chord part until I make more progress on this passage!! The bombastic chords are SO fun but realistically I know that this part with all the sixteenths will be the hardest part of the piece to master, personally….. delayed gratification….

The tempo in this clip is around 80-84 bpm, while performance tempo is 105 and 88 is my current breaking point, +/- 1 bpm. As the tempo increases, I need to focus more on reducing physical motions and increasing the efficiency of my playing. It’s also difficult to keep the same amount of control I have over voicing as I play faster.. and the LH is more prone to falling out of line.. but I think the path is looking bright!! Definitely sounding pretty okay compared to my initial fears.

Will continue to work on this passage to improve voicing and increase tempo, and also start looking at the first part of the piece.. and maybe work on the dramatic chords if I’m moving along quickly enough.
