Kairi’s Theme #2 [END]
EDIT: This is the final take for now. There’s one wrong note but otherwise, it was solid enough where I’ll mark it complete.
Last post before the final take for this one! All the notes came back to me, and I worked on refining a few bits. Otherwise, I just played through over and over again.
Detailed Analysis
Not going to talk too much since I wanna save the bulk of my commentary for the final take. I guess I’ll talk about the errors and things to still improve..
There’s supposed to be a build up in dynamic from 0:29 to 0:36, but I feel like I don’t express that enough yet. Same deal for the phrase at 1:07; supposed to crescendo, and also need to bring out the first couple of accented chords more.
Thumb hit and then slipped off the bottom note of the octave at 1:18 LOL.. whoops. At least I hit the right note.
For the phrase at 1:37, in general I’ve improved the musicality a little bit, I think, but I still need to clean up the notes that are meant to be played in unison between both hands. Buffered at 1:59 since I usually just rely on muscle memory to carry me through and I only tried playing from memory today.
THE PHRASE FROM 2:09 HAS MADE SOME VAST IMPROVEMENTS!! Still need to work on syncing the hands together, but I can play through this part a bit more effortlessly now! Smeared an octave at 2:15.. played a wrong note at 2:37, whoops. Improved the chord at 2:53 a bit, but LH middle note still tends to play slightly later than the others.
Current Thoughts
I was in good condition today so I took a recording just for fun. Debated on making this the final take since it’s not too shabby, but I know I can play better, so hopefully that take will come to me with minimal grief.
I spent most of this month feeling pretty down about my piano playing, honestly, but revisiting this piece has boosted my confidence a bit which is nice. Also took a break from “Stand Your Ground” since the 18th, basically, and hoping to close that one out soon, too. Played it today and it’s not too bad! The trouble spots fixed themselves for today, at least..
