Ashes of Dreams - Snapshot #5
So I've actually been able to play through the whole piece for like.. a solid week now lol but haven't had the chance to really record anything....... today wasn't the best piano day so excuse the rough excerpt but THIS WAS THE BEST I COULD DO
Ashes of Dreams - Snapshot #4
I am ALMOST DONE with learning the notes, bless.... honestly there is nothing ridiculously difficult left, I'm just lazy oops. After this part, we'll come back around to the motif with a slight variation (and it is my favorite variation in the piece so I'm excited) and then close out with huge broken chords...... huffs hopefully I can keep this momentum going. And then post a perfect take. I'll probably post the remainder of the piece first and then take some time to polish and get a full take... I ACCIDENTALLY LEARNED SOME NOTES WRONG ALWEKJLKJWAJ I caught one early on in this particular section so it's fine here but there're a couple of other wrong notes I caught in earlier sections I've posted. Usually wrong notes stick out like a sore thumb to me because of my perfect pitch but man the jazzy context fooled my ears..... I can't believe this
Ashes of Dreams - Snapshot #3
*appears after over a week with almost nothing to show for it* so I fell into bad practice habits and..... progress became incremental but HERE I AM
Here's the chunk that was the most difficult.. basically everything from 5 seconds in lol. The chords for this arrangement are very foreign to me since the arranger obviously had jazz influence so not only are there tons of accidentals but the chord progressions simply don't come to me as naturally.. but it does make the payoff that much more rewarding.
Ashes of Dreams - Snapshot #2
Worked more on this non-swung portion this weekend- the next phrase launches into the swung remainder of the piece... finally...
Ashes of Dreams - Snapshot #1
Finally had some time to really sit down and work through this piece today- spent some time on some of the more complex bars especially. It'd been a long time since I played with a met... but it was very rewarding! I wish I took a video of my playing before all the practice so the improvement is more obvious, but I'm very happy with the progress I made with just one practice session.
